Fans Get ‘Mbappe2020’ Trending In The UK After He Praises Liverpool
It would be very easy for Liverpool to rest on their laurels in the summer.
At their current rate of handing out L’s like they’re going out of fashion, the Reds are on course to wrap up the title in mid-March – conveniently when they play Everton at Goodison Park.
Yet one thing Jurgen Klopp cannot allow is for complacency to set in.
Accordingly, the European champions are still being linked with a host of top players who would make their already scintillating attack even better.
RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner is the latest, but there is one rumour that has never gone away.
Kylian Mbappé Lottin.
It’s long been expected that if the Frenchman departs Paris Saint-Germain, it will be to link up with his idol Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
Los Blancos’ need is arguably greater as they still strive for that one ‘galactico’ up front to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
If Mbappe did signal his intent to leave the Parc des Princes, it would spark one almighty tug-of-war with Europe’s top clubs trying to outbid one another.
Money is one thing, but Liverpool might feel they have an edge on the pitch. Not only are they soon to be crowned English champions, they won the Champions League in June and followed it up with the Club World Cup in December.
Any player who wants to join what is officially the best team on the planet need look no further than Anfield.
Mbappe, for one, is thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from across the Channel, as he discussed speaking to BBC Sport.
In fact, he praised Liverpool so highly that ‘Mbappe2020’ was quickly trending again in the UK as Kopites began to agitate anew for a move.
“What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing,” Mbappe said.
“They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like ‘we play again, we play again’.
“They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything’s easy but that’s not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.
“Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them, so now they have to show they are strong again but it’s a very good team with a very good manager.”
The World Cup winner also joked he was “proud” of Trent Alexander-Arnold for copying his celebration in the win over Leicester.

Now, before anyone gets too excited, he also stressed that he isn’t thinking about leaving PSG – though he added “we will see” about the end of the season.
“Now I’m with PSG and I’m 100% with the club,” he admitted.
“I want to help the club grow this season, to win a lot of titles, so for me it’s not good to talk about [my future].
“I think about the club because the club helped me. I came here at 18. I was a talent but I was not a superstar. Now I’m a superstar, thanks to PSG and the French national team.
“I have to stay calm and stay focused on PSG. After that, at the end of the season, we will see. But now I’m focused on my game.”
The 21-year-old’s comments weren’t unsolicited either, as he was speaking at the launch of his charity ‘Inspired by Kylian Mbappe’ (IBKM).
In the meantime, the rumour isn’t going to die down any time soon and if he were to move, Liverpool fans are confident that Merseyside would be in the back of his mind.
